Question about Chinese writing. ?
I'm planning on getting a tattoo of my name in Chinese writing.
I looked it up online and my name, Taryn is 塔琳 in Chinese. (looks pretty small I know)
But anyways, I was wondering if it matters how it is written?
Like does it mean different things:
if it is written like this 塔琳
OR
塔
琳
would it matter?
Would it still read the same?
Thanks =]
Yes, it would still read the same, as Chinese was originally written from top to bottom, in lines which stack-up right to left. However, with more use of computers (which technically don't support up-down fonts), the left to right, stacking up to down way of writing (the same as this here paragraph).
The traditional way is up to down, though, and therefore it would look better (and, lets say you were to tattoo your leg, you wouldn't put the characters on the side when you could just write them downwards, mmm?)
Ok, good luck!
