How long do the tattoos take on shows like LA Ink, Miami Ink, or Inked?

They make it seem like it takes like 15-20mins for full tattoo from outline to color. artists should show how long it actually takes for some of those tattoos.

All in all it all really depends on how big the piece is and where it's going. i haven't watched those shows in ages because they really leave out alot of stuff about the whole tattooing process and what generally goes on in a tattoo shop. most of those pieces take many many hours to finish and yes most of them do require more then one session, a ball park estimate of about 15-55 hrs. most artists won't do anything after inkin in the outline because colors can mix together and that's not what they want. typically what they do is outline and put in some black or grey DEPENDING on the piece and tattoo artist. it's funny that they make a big piece seem to take so little time when really even a small piece takes a while since things have to be set up and skin has to be cleaned.
